We sat down to find out more about her and why she wants to contribute to the arts and culture sector.
Hi Kadri. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you did before joining CultureSuite?
Way back, my life revolved around culture, music, singing, composing and painting. Later on, I became interested in technology and just before CultureSuite, I was already working in a tech startup that brought travellers closer to culture. I’m happy to have managed to keep those two passions together.
What enticed you to join CultureSuite?
Once upon a time, I started studying full-stack development and got as far as front-end which I found very interesting until I had to make some life choices and quit for the time being. CultureSuite offered a rather unique position that you don’t often come across which was something that I dreamed of at the time of my studies – I do developer-like tasks without being an actual developer. This method of working on a website without needing deep development knowledge is also how our clients manage their Peppered-powered websites.
What’s your earliest experience of arts and culture? And how did it influence who you are today?
My earliest…I guess it has to be going to music school already before primary school. For most of my youth my family supported me becoming a pianist or a composer until I moved abroad and had to get a “real job”. I have always been interested in a lot of different subjects so I’m content with having paved the path towards technology.
How would you like to help the sector in your new role?
The Peppered platform represents a venue on the front-end and consists of so many aspects on the back end. Our team is there to support, understand and advise on the best use of Peppered for venue employees who, most of the time, have such a wide range of tasks on their hands that it can be a bit overwhelming to learn a new platform, let alone manage it.
What do you enjoy doing outside of your role at CultureSuite?
Travelling and being part of new cultural experiences has always been important for me. Not losing contact with nature and quality time with close ones.
What is the most interesting (be that cool, random or otherwise!) thing that’s ever happened to you?
Having one-on-one conversations with two famous composers, Arvo Pärt about the importance of one leaf of grass, and Wim Henderickx about being consequent. I’ve implemented those ideas into art and life in general.
