We’re thrilled to introduce Jocelyn, our new Content Marketer.
We sat down with her to find out more about them and why they want to contribute to the arts and culture sector.
Hi Jocelyn. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you did before joining CultureSuite?
I m an art historian with a practical mind. I’ve worked in the cultural sector as a freelancer, engaging in various aspects of culture. My background spans communications, writing, research, curation and working on cultural projects and productions, collaborating with artists, festivals, institutions, and more. If you’re curious about my work and projects, feel free to check out the platform House of Narrative or give me a follow on Instagram to connect.
What enticed you to join CultureSuite?
CultureSuite boasts an incredible global community of clients within the cultural sector, presenting a wealth of exciting branding opportunities. With its diverse range of cultural venues, the company offers a unique perspective on the industry, allowing me to craft compelling stories and narratives that resonate across different audiences.
What’s your earliest experience of arts and culture? And how did it influence who you are today?
Music, arts, and culture were integral to my upbringing. My dad worked at the Circustheater in The Hague when we were young, so my sister and I frequently found ourselves backstage, surrounded by artists. My grandmother was a painter, and with both my parents being passionate music enthusiasts and practitioners, we had weekly music lessons—singing and piano—for ten years.
We even attended a special art and music high school. This early immersion laid the foundation for my later studies in art, history, and heritage. However, my interest always leaned more toward practical forms of art. As a child, for example, I had a fascination with the design of clothing tags. I collected them obsessively, filling books and asking everyone around me to contribute, simply because I loved their design and branding, which makes it obvious that I now love to work in more applied forms of artistic expression.
How would you like to help the sector in your new role?
In my new role, I aim to leverage my storytelling and communication skills to highlight unique cultural narratives and foster connections between diverse audiences and the arts. By tapping into the insights within the cultural sector, I hope to build a more interconnected international community among CultureSuite’s clients, enabling them to share challenges and successes. Whether a major theatre in New York or a small museum in Roosendaal, this network will strengthen institutions and contribute to a unified, innovative global cultural community that drives universal changes in culture
What do you enjoy doing outside of your role at CultureSuite?
I enjoy surfing and other sports – you’ll find me in the gym or on the yoga mat three or four times a week, if I am not in the sea. I also like hands-on home projects, whether it’s hosting events and gatherings for friends and family, tackling home improvement tasks, assisting my family with errands, some good vintage shopping or getting creative with interior design.
